To complete our unit on leafy greens, students created poems to “show what they know.” This lesson was a part of Georgia Organic‘s “Lettuce Try It” series. You can see the lesson plans here.
We started by reviewing what we had learned – We read “Lettuce Grows on the Ground” and gathered information from lettuce seed packets.
Then, Kindergarten students made observations of our leafy greens on the garden using their five senses to complete their poem.
First and second grade students, reviewed syllables as they created haikus about their leafy greens.
Third and fourth grade students made acrostic poems to share what they had learned.
