Thank you so much to the Marder family for donating pots to our garden! Can’t wait to plant some spring plants in them!

Today , we began cleaning up our beds from our fall garden to prepare for our spring garden. The kids made beautiful bouquets from the leftover leafy greens and the flowers of the collard plants. Assistant principal, Ms. Blackwell loved her bouquet!

We are so thrilled to have drip irrigation installed at our roof top garden! This will allow us to sufficiently water our plants while we are away on spring break and summer break. Our spinach is sprouting!

  My kindergarteners found some little bugs on our green leaf lettuce! I’m not sure that we have correctly identified them but the kindergarteners decided that they were aphids. The kids thoroughly enjoyed researching them and looking at close up pictures of them once we got back to the classroom!

What color is my shirt, today? Well… gingko-leaf-in-the-fall yellow 🙂

We have planted pansies every winter since we started our garden. They are pretty winter hardy and can survive light freezes – even short periods of snow cover (just in case, we get any this year!)
