Today Farmer D brought us 288 8-quart bags of compost and four 50-pound bags of fertilizer for our 92 center beds on our rooftop garden!
Math Challenge:
How many total quarts of compost did we receive?
How many total pounds of fertilizer did we receive?
When we divided the bags of compost evenly through the beds, how many bags did each bed get? How many bags were left over?
(Email the answers to Ms. Mobley at mobleyj@atlanta.k12.ga.us for a chance to win a King of Pops popsicle!)
Thank you to our parent volunteers Lisa Willis, Michelle Planeaux, Lisa Marie Smith, Nicole Borse, Nadia Aziz, Teresa Groshans, and a special thanks to David Clapper who came and brought some his friends from Crossfit. They all helped us haul every single bag from the truck up to the rooftop garden.
Then they assisted the kids in breaking open the bags and distributing them throughout the beds.
The kids had a great time mixing all of the soil in the beds!
Thank you to Reese and the rest of the Farmer D crew for delivering such great soil for our rooftop garden! We’re looking forward to growing more fresh veggies to feed to more awesome volunteers ๐
Thank you Schoolyard Sprouts for funding this project! We couldn’t do it without your support!
What a joy it was to see the school yard sprouts in action!
It was a nice way to spend the morning.
I look forward to our next adventure in the garden.
