Through this project, students learned what happens to paper after they dispose of it in the recycling bin. Just like the recycling factories, we tore up our old used papers from the classroom and mixed the pieces with water in a blend to make pulp. Then we used screens of different shapes and sizes to collect the pulp and allow the water to drip out. When we flipped the pulp onto plastic and used a rolling pin to squeeze some extra water out, they dried in about a day. Then they were ready for us to write on all over again!
