“Berry Pie”
Inspired by Bob Dylan’s “Country Pie”
Out in the field at the break of day,
The blue of the berries match the blue of the jays.
Oh me, oh my,
Love that berry pie!
Off of the bush, we pluck them one by one.
We pick enough to share with everyone.
Oh me, oh my,
Love that berry pie!
Raspberry, strawberry, lemon and lime,
We can all share.
Blueberry, apple, cherry, pumpkin and plum,
Call me to the table and I’ll be there!
We roll out the dough, salt, butter, and flour.
Add sugar that’s sweet and some lemon that’s sour.
Oh me, oh my,
Love that berry pie!
Pour the berries on top, put the pie in to bake.
Set out the forks, knives, and the plates.
Oh me, oh my,
Love that berry pie!
Pie tastes better when it’s shared,
Made with love, beyond compare.
Oh me, oh my,
Love that berry pie!
Oh me, oh my,
Love that berry pie!
