Produce of the Month: FL Radishes

Our fresh radishes are from Duda & Sons Family Farm in Oviedo, Florida. The founder of the farm, Andrew Duda, purchased the first fourty acres in the early 1900s. It has now expanded to nearly 90,000 acres owned or leased by the company in several states across the country and is in its fifth generation of ownership by the Duda family. The key to their success has been in their ability to improve and use their land to the highest and best value.

Radishes are a common garden crop in the United States and the fast harvest cycle makes them a popular choice for children’s gardens. They are in season from April to June and from October to January in most parts of North America. They come in four main types (summer, fall, winter, and spring) and vary in shape, color, and size.

Radishes are rich in ascorbic acid, folic acid, and potassium. They are a good source of vitamin B6, riboflavin, magnesium, copper, and calcium.
